Our commitment to home literacy

Parents and carers and the home environment are crucial to developing a child’s literacy skills. Reading Quest works hard to involve families in our teaching and understands that such partnership working can have a dynamic impact not only on the Reading Quest pupil but on other siblings in the home and on the adults themselves.

A survey by Oxford University Press of some 300 teachers found that more than half of them believed many children in their classes had never been read a bedtime story (April, 2010). Reading Quest works hard to promote home literacy and to support parents/carers in that process.
