Reading Quest is linking with the country’s top children’s publishers to trial brand new picture books and will be reviewing them on this website.

The move marks 2012 as the year Reading Quest is ‘Celebrating the Picture Book’ with a year of fundraising events and collaborations with partners to raise awareness of our work and of the importance of the picture book within it.

Each book will be tested by our tutors with the children and parents/carers that they work with and comments/feedback will be gathered.

We are particularly interested to see how each book can be used by children in the early stages of learning to read. We will focus on the storyline, illustrations, the wording including phonics difficulty and sight word opportunities, etc.

We hope our reviews will help schools to choose resources more easily when they are looking to select picture books for their Key Stage 1 readers.

The first review will be appearing by February. Watch this space!
