Our Impact

We are proud to say that on average, the pupils we support make 7 months progress in reading and 5 in spelling, which enables them to catch up with their peers and carry on progressing.
Reading Quest employs a wide variety of tried and tested methods. School staff are trained to observe each child carefully and to identify the barriers to learning. Lessons are tailored to the needs of each pupil. Every lesson involves reading, writing and playing literacy games as well as plenty of speaking and listening work.
At the end of each session, the child chooses a book to take home and a written ‘quest’ or challenge is set to encourage them to read the book and come back to the next session with the answer.
Parents and carers play a vital role. They are invited to observe lessons and are encouraged to help their children at home using the Reading Quest approach and resources. We run family libraries where children and adults alike can get together to read and play games, supported by trained professionals.
We link with schools to hold celebration assemblies in which the achievements of the children are recognised and school staff and families are invited to hold a tea party afterwards.
Our partnership working with schools plays a big part in our success with teaching staff working closely with us to select pupils and support our daily work.
